Wycombe Marsh Village Sign

Bringing the sign back to its former glory

The eagle eyed amongst you who pass by the village sign garden in Abbey Barn Road may have noticed that the village sign had gone missing.

Installed in 2010 when the War Memorial was moved to The Quicks, the garden is currently tended by volunteers in Wycombe Marsh Community Environment Group and over the years the metal sign had started to fade and was in need of a refresh.

Members of the group had a couple of times looked to find someone suitable to undertake the work but always drawn a blank.

Enter Dan Wilson and team who are responsible for the amazing work on the Micklefield Road subway and Kat, who is responsible for the amazing lettering on some of the murals.

We were delighted when Kat looked at the village sign and agreed that it was something she could refresh, but it raised the question of how could she work on it given it was on top of the wooden beam in the centre of the garden?

Cue Mark and team at AllGrass who removed the very heavy sign, (a two-person job), and delivered it to Kat’s studio for her to work on.

We are very much looking forward to seeing the sign back in place restored to its former glory.

Thank you to the team at AllGrass Gardening Service https://allgrassgardeningservice.co.uk and the talented Kat at https://chicsign.studio and also to our volunteer Eric for co-ordinating everything.
