Opportunity Bucks Marsh and Micklefield Ward
Residents can have a say in what happens in their community
With the 10-year Marsh & Micklefield Big Local project coming to an end, how can we, as residents, have a say in what happens in our community?
The Opportunity Bucks programme has been running for a number of years and was introduced by Buckinghamshire Council in response to the Government’s Levelling Up programme as a way for residents to be directly involved in what happens in their area. We know that some areas in Buckinghamshire are facing significant challenges.
Opportunity Bucks is an innovative place-based partnership programme created to address inequalities. It focuses support where it is needed the most.
Through the Marsh and Micklefield Ward Partnership meetings we have the chance to be involved in shaping what we would like to see in Marsh and Micklefield. Meetings are held every couple of months, in the evening, locally and everyone with an interest in our area is very welcome to attend.
These meetings are friendly and informal, and by taking part you can help make where your community a better place to live – this is a chance to have your say.
We're aiming to work together with local partners and communities to:
improve opportunities
tackle priority issues
make a meaningful difference to the lives and outcomes of our residents
The Opportunity Bucks programme also holds Community Activity Days where the Council teams up with local partners, organisations, and businesses to create an event designed for everyone, with the aim of bringing communities together. Community Activity Days offer local residents the chance to connect with the community, access useful local information and advice and enjoy free family-friendly fun.

Community boards
The ward partnerships work closely with the Community Boards, providing focus and action at a local level. The Community Boards address key priorities and local issues and find ways of improving them together.
