High Wycombe Community Board
High Wycombe Community Board - Powered by local people
Community Boards help bring the council, local groups, organisations and residents together to understand what the community needs. We then work together to decide what matters most and take action through ideas, events and local projects.

What are we focusing on?
Our priorities come from conversations with residents, councillors, community groups and partners:
Young people and youth opportunities – Supporting young people and those who work with them to create positive activities, build confidence and strengthen local youth provision.
A cleaner, greener High Wycombe – Helping communities take pride in their area by tackling litter, improving green spaces and encouraging local action.
Better connections and communication – Making it easier for people to find out what’s happening locally and get involved in community life.
What does that look like in real life?
A great example is the Great British Spring Clean earlier this year. Residents, schools and community groups came together across High Wycombe to raise awareness, clear litter, brighten up neighbourhoods and show real pride in where they live.
From Sands to Bowerdean to Kingsmead, people rolled up their sleeves, collecting bags of rubbish and making a visible difference.
That effort didn’t just stop there. It’s grown into a Litter Picking Network, connecting local groups and individuals who are passionate about keeping Wycombe clean and green.
Groups like the Wycombe Marsh Community Environment Group, Sands Litter Wombles, Step in Wombats and Chiltern Rangers are out regularly, new people are always welcome to join in and are setting up their own litter picking groups.

In Castlefield, local volunteers at The Ark Centre told us they needed more support to confidently engage young people and respond to challenging situations. Working with local partners through the Castlefield Coalition, the Community Board helped bring together organisations to co-design a practical solution. This led to a youth worker training programme, which will be delivered by Switch Lanes, giving volunteers the skills to build positive relationships, manage behaviour and create a safe, welcoming space. The result? More confident volunteers, stronger partnerships, reduced anti-social behaviour and more young people getting involved in positive activities, all driven by the community.
The ideas, energy and hard work come from you. We help connect people and support projects but it’s local residents, volunteers and organisations who make things happen.
Fancy getting involved?
There are plenty of ways to get involved, whether you want to share your ideas, take part in local projects or help shape your community - let us know how we can support what is happening in your local area.
