Big Local Project End

Reflecting on a decade of achievement

Well, here we are, more than ten years down the line, with Marsh & Micklefield Big Local (M&MBL) drawing to an end. A report commissioned by the final Partnership team will be published before the project ends on our social media channels and via email to all of you signed up to our mailing list.

The report reflects on some of the activities and projects undertaken by M&MBL over the life of the project. We’re not quite finished yet, as there are still some events and projects to take us up to the end of December…but the end of Big Local is in sight.

Anyone who has ever been a member of the Partnership shared an understanding that Wycombe Marsh and Micklefield are special in many ways.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the woods in Micklefield and the River Wye in Wycombe Marsh, we are never far from nature, which all Partnership members sought to encourage everyone to appreciate. With local and national retailers, community centres, a library, and reasonable transport links, Marsh and Micklefield is a great places to live. However, the thing that makes Marsh and Micklefield truly special is the people who live here.

Changes over the years

The last ten years have seen changes politically and socially in the area, the UK and the world, which have impacted our day-to-day lives. Throughout all these changes, the M&MBL Partnership worked towards making Marsh and Micklefield an even better place to live, work and visit.

Given the size and geography of the area, it was always going to be a monumental task. As volunteers ourselves, the Partnership has always sought to use the funding granted to Marsh and Micklefield wisely.

We have thriving community centres in both areas which were built through the hard work and commitment of local people and are supported and managed by volunteers and staff.

We, as a Partnership, are proud that we have been able to support both community centres and we see the investment we've made in them as a legacy, not only for our friends and neighbours now, but for future generations.

It is our earnest hope that residents will continue to see the benefits of the Big Local project in years to come, follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with the few projects still to come.
