Neighbourhood Watch
No doubt most of you have heard of Neighbourhood Watch and many of you may have laughed at the popular image of ‘nosey neighbours’ twitching their net curtains to see what their neighbours are up to and hoping not to be seen doing so!
Well, the truth is very different ….in most cases!
Neighbourhood Watch members help protect themselves and their neighbours as well as providing useful information, if they wish, to help their local Police Force.
A recent Thames Valley Police survey showed that the priority concerns amongst residents in our community were drugs, speeding and anti-social behaviour. The Police are taking action to reduce our concerns, but you/we can help through Neighbourhood Watch.
It’s run by local volunteers (coordinators) where residents work with one another and local police to prevent crime, reduce anti-social behaviour and improve overall neighbourhood safety.
We keep an eye out (no Opticians involved) for suspicious activity and share intelligence or safety alerts directly with each other and the Police.
It helps cut opportunities for crime and deters opportunistic burglars, reduces the fear of crime and reassures vulnerable residents as well as fostering community spirit, neighbourliness, and mutual support.
Joining or forming a scheme is completely free…..yes FREE…. and open to everyone (They even let me in!)
We hope to welcome you soon.
You can search for joining, or starting, a group using the Neighbourhood Watch Network or contact office@wdnhwatch.plus.com
